All Things Digital - Additional Digital Marketing Resources

April 15, 2021

In an overwhelming sea of abundant digital marketing resources, BG Digital Marketing Solutions has complied an extensive list of some of our favorite resources, tutorials and expert advise in all things digital marketing. In addition, there are some useful links for things your business needs to do to get started with digital marketing. One thing you definitely need to put at the top of the list is to set up both Google My Business and Bing Places.

As far as the courses, many of them are completely free and are offered directly from the marketing platform itself (for example Google offers an extensive variey of training courses on its marketing offerings). I would actually recommend starting directly with the provider of a service before you commit to paying someone a hefty fee to learn something you can learn for free. Another benefit of some of the courses is they offer certification. The certifications are nice if you are student or just starting out in the digital marketing field. You can add these badges and certifications to your employment profiles (like on LinkedIn) to offer some validity to the skills you say you know. If you do not know how to add the certification to LinkedIn, the courses will usually tell you once you have passed or LinkedIn has its own guide. The certifications are also nice if you would just like to hang something on your wall to remind yourself of the progress you are making!

Building Your Own Website

Google PPC Advertising

All these courses are from Google themselves. A sidenote on Google Ads, when you sign up for Google Ads (free), as April 2021, they will give you access to an Ad Specialist for 90 days. The Specialist will to help you run your campaign and begin to measure its success. Google, of course, will suggest the most expensive options but you do not need to go with it. I feel they are definitely an asset when you are learning about Google Ad Campaigns. Also, be sure to learn about things like keyword match types, Ad Rank and Quality Score. The Google Local Service Ads are actually pay per lead. Google Ad Sense will allow you to  advertisements on your website.

Other Free Tools

This list is some additional tools you can use to get your business up and running. They all offer a FREE version. If you like it, most of them offer advanced features in a premium paid version. For a lot of small businesses you will find the free version to be sufficient. I have to say Canva graphics is my favorite free tool out there. You can use it to make professional images for everything from print flyers to social media posts. It actually will size your social media posts correctly. I also really love the Facebook Business Suite. You can schedule unlimited posts & stories to Facebook, Instagram and view all kinds of analytics. You can add buttons like “Get Messages” and create Lead Ads and Boosts. Hootsuite Free is once again striping free services , moving from 3 to 2 free platforms soon. This may change my opinion about it, as far as “free” usefulness. Lastly, currently I am testing both Hubspot and MailChimp out on this website. I will report back my findings later in a blog post.
